JULY SHOWS TO INCLUDE MATERIAL FROM NEW ROUNDER ALBUM

Burlington, MA – Robert Plant has confirmed a 12 city North American tour. Beginning in July, this 1st leg of shows which will be followed by further dates in the fall will preview material from a new album. Featuring a diverse group of musicians - Patty Griffin, vocals, Darrell Scott, multi instrumentalist/vocals, Byron House, Bass/Vocals, Marco Giovino, drums and percussion/vocals, including co-producer Buddy Miller, guitar/vocals. The album is set for release on Rounder, late summer/early fall.

ROCK fans have today been given the opportunity of a lifetime to see the legendary star Robert Plant play a unique and intimate gig in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Sound & Vision, sponsored by Shepperton, takes place at Abbey Road Studios on 25 February 2010. The event, which is now in its fifth year, has raised over £700,000 for Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work since it started in 2006. Robert’s set will include support from American singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman and the London Oriana Choir, in what promises to be a completely unique, one-off performance.

On behalf of everyone at the Old Country Store Restaurant and Casey Jones Village in Jackson Tennessee, thanks for joining us for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. We hope you enjoyed our traditional southern cookin’ and that you will return again next time you’re in the area. I saw you were in the Memphis area on your website for the Blues Tribute. We love the Blues too. In fact, we met you in a little restaurant we had in downtown Jackson about 10 years ago. Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has admitted he has spoken to festival organiser Michael Eavis about performing at Glastonbury next year.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music at the Q Awards, he said: “I’ve just been talking to Michael. There’s place for me there, but I have no idea who with.”

Plant picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The few hundred people that made the effort to show up early Saturday to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 9 festival in Golden Gate Park were rewarded lavishly.

Breaking in the new Towers of Gold Stage at the far end of Lindley Meadow just before noon, Nashville guitarist Buddy Miller brought out a couple of special guests - Emmylou Harris to sing devastating harmonies on his song “Wide River to Cross” and Robert Plant to unleash his leather lung wail on the Hank Snow standard “I’m Movin’ On.” (more…)

On Friday 11th September, Vexed Mag were fortunate enough to be invited to Rockwell at London’s O2, for arguably the most exciting combination of live performances we could have imagined.

Rockwell was held in aid of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, which has established itself throughout the years as the charity of choice for the music industry. Throughout it’s history, artists such as David Bowie, Paul Weller, Coldplay, Sting and Mick Jagger have supported it. The charity is the largest provider of music therapy in the UK and aims to promote  health and well being for those with disability or illness.

Like most charity concerts, the eclecticism of the bill was both the boon and the bane of Rockwell, an event to raise funds for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Seeing a dozen artists in a single sitting was an attractive proposition, not least with the show’s impressively brief turnaround times and the inspired idea to have singers duet with their successor on stage. But even in these easy days of downloading it is a rare fan who shares a taste for Lulu, Razorlight, David Gray and Escala. (more…)
